Our teachers

"English from English" - the name of our courses speaks for itself. Of course, our classes are conducted exclusively by native speakers, and there are many reasons.

Why is it so important to learn English from a native speaker?

  • First, it is obvious that the best qualified to teach a language is the one who speaks it naturally. The courses at "English from English" are conducted by our highly qualified specialists, who hold internationally recognised certificates in teaching English as a foreign language. Having great experience in teaching, they are attuned to the level and needs of the student so that the learning materials become the most accessible - even for those just beginning to learn the language.
  • Second, only a native speaker can give you an exact idea of the modern English vernacular. Our courses will help you to improve your pronunciation, and constant communication with the teacher will correct any bad habits that have been picked up. In future you will understand English speech and find communicating with English-speaking people second nature.
  • Third, only such teachers, of course, can acquaint one with the subtleties of their language. Nuances in the proper usage of certain words, which are not obvious to non-native speakers, can be added to the student’s vocabulary, on top of common words and phrases.

And so, with a native-speaking teacher, you will receive a strong grounding in modern English in all its aspects.

Michael

I am Michael. 15 years in business, 11 spent in Russia. I first arrived here in 1991, on my Russian degree course from Durham University. In 2003 I finished my MBA at Durham University's Business School. And then in 2009 I passed my CELTA course at Swansea University, gaining an "A" pass.

Being a fluent Russian speaker means that I can ensure that all the many facets of the English language are covered very thoroughly with my students. I have experience in teaching all ages and all levels.

Currently I teach children of 4 years, 7 to 10 years, beginners English to adults, intermediate and advanced levels as well. My MBA knowledge comes into its own when I teach students business English, and teaching the Cambridge Financial Course is just fantastic. I look forward to seeing you in my classes.

Sarah

Hi, I’m Sarah! At present I’m the youngest member of the team, which helps me interact with our younger students.

I come from the south coast of England, but came to Moscow after living in Paris for three years. I have a degree in French, and gained my teaching qualification in July 2011, and have fallen in love with Moscow and my Russian friends.

All aspects of language fascinate me, and I’m always trying to improve my Russian – please don’t laugh if I try my skills on you!

Henry

Hello, my name is Henry. I'm from a small town called Colchester, near London, where I moved to study Economics at UCL. Upon finishing my degree, I decided to broaden my horizons by experiencing another culture. After attaining my Trinity Tesol qualification, I came to Moscow to teach.

Now I'm back for a second time and still enjoying it, teaching is a great, rewarding job and I hope to see you in my classes or the school soon!

James

Hi! My name is James and I’m from London. I studied Philosophy at Kings College London. After working in Medical Ethics for a while, I trained as a teacher at the Institute of Education. I worked in several Secondary Schools in London, teaching students from age 12 to 18.

In 2011 I decided I wanted to broaden my horizons so obtained my TESOL certificate, which has brought me here to Moscow. I have met so many wonderful people since I've been here and really enjoy helping people achieve their goals learning English. I look forward to seeing you in my class!

Ben

Hi, my name's Ben.

A little bit about me...

I grew up in the quaint town of Saltash, which lies in beautiful Cornwall on the south-west coast of England. I studied Advertising and Marketing at Lancaster University and, following that, worked for an advertising agency in London on brands including Coca-Cola and Panasonic.

Last year, I felt it was time for a fresh adventure, so - after achieving my Trinity CertTESOL qualification in November and packing my warmest jacket - I moved to Moscow. I am a keen long-distance runner (in the snow, not so much!) and writer in my spare time. My other major passions in music and film show no signs of abating; should you ever wish to test my encyclopedic knowledge, feel free to try!

I look forward to seeing you in one of my classes soon.

Tom

Hi there! My name’s Tom and I’m from Wales.

Before arriving here in Moscow I worked for the local government in my home county of Pembrokeshire after I completed a history degree from Swansea University. My hobbies include playing guitar, fast cars and running.

In 2011 I decided I wanted to see more of the world, so I obtained my Trinity TESOL qualification and jumped at the chance to teach in Moscow. For me, Russia has everything; wonderful places to see, a fascinating history and, most importantly, lots of kind and friendly people. I hope to see and do as much as I can, and look forward to seeing you in one of my classes.

Нил

Hello, my name is Neil, and I'm from Scotland.

I moved to Moscow at the beginning of 2011, and am delighted to be working here with AAA. Before I became an English Teacher in 2010, I worked as a Community Education Worker in the Highlands of Scotland for 18 years.

As a teacher, I understand how to encourage, motivate and support people to learn to the best of their ability. I have worked with people of all ages and abilities, from all walks of life - but it's always important to see people as individuals.

My great passions are music and the performing arts. I like to live an active life, and I love having adventures!

For me, working in education is the best job in the world - it's such a positive and rewarding career for me. And I'm so glad to be here in Moscow, getting to know the people and its places - it's such a fascinating city!

Райан

Hello, My name is Ryan, I’m from London.

After graduating, I worked as a musician, playing and recording in the capital and in many other parts of the U.K.

Other than music, I have a passion for languages and other cultures, so I decided to study for a Trinity CertTESOL qualification and move to Moscow. It’s a wonderful place with much to offer. I hope to see you soon.

Emma

Hello, I’m Emma and I’ve moved to Moscow from Aberdeen in Scotland. I have a great love for food so followed that passion and became a fully trained chef. After that I studied International Relations at the University of Aberdeen but decided to become an English teacher after spending time in London gaining my Trinity TESOL qualification. I have fallen in love with teaching and I’m really excited about my time here in Moscow. I look forward to meeting you in the near future!

Rowland

Hello, I’m Rowland. – I love my native tongue and thoroughly enjoy sharing it with, and explaining it to, my Russian students. Moscow, for me, is a wonderful place to live and work. I am steadily improving my knowledge of your beautiful language. In the UK I spent several years teaching communication skills to soldiers in the British Army, and have also taught English at a sixth form college. At one time I worked as a musical entertainer, singing and playing the guitar, as well as running an entertainment agency. In addition to music making, I enjoy dancing and writing poetry. Whether it is English for business, for accessing our literature, for making friends in the English speaking world, or indeed, all three, I am happy to help you.

Valya

I am a native Russian and fully qualified teacher of English.

My role at the school is to assist with lessons, where necessary and appropriate, usually in the Beginner’s Classes, where students can feel more comfortable knowing that there is a native Russian to help with translation. I can also give individual lessons to students who feel that they need tuition to develop them to a stage where they can fully participate in group lessons with a native English teacher.

Further to this, I help with the testing and assessment of new students so that the school can provide the correct level of tuition. I also act as an observer in other lessons, to provide feedback to the teachers and management, from a Russian perspective, in order to maintain and improve the high quality and standards of teaching that our students have come to expect.

Katya

Hello! My name is Ekaterina, to you - Katya.
My education majored in economics at the Moscow State University and I have more than 15 years experience, working in English-speaking companies. At its core activity in our language centre, I am the office manager, and it means that I am an administrator and assistant clerk at the same time! Therefore, on all matters relating to the office management of the Centre, the programme of studies, the formation of teams, lesson scheduling, as well as all documents, fees and business relationships, please contact me.
With me, you can find out where and how to make yourself a cup of coffee or tea before collecting your thoughts and tuning in to learning.
